In Support of Sarpy County Historical Society
The Sarpy County Museum strives to protect, preserve, and promote the history of Sarpy County. Sarpy County was a springboard for Nebraska’s settlement and expansion. It’s rich history ranges from local Native American tribes to Offutt Air Force base.
The museum showcases a variety of historical information and artifacts. Historical documents available for research include digitized newspapers, naturalization records, and digitized and printed photos.
Since opening in 1970, the museum has continued to accumulate historically significant items and documents. It is no surprise that after more than 50 years, we have outgrown our space. In addition, through the generous donation of Bill and Judy Wimmer, the museum will be the future home of the nationally renowned Wimmer Railroad Collection.
The need for additional museum space, numerous current building repairs, and major upgrades have prompted us to look for a new space.
